Difficulty Modes

Easy:

  • Enemies are much weaker.
  • You have extra health.
  • Stats grow faster.

Normal: (Default difficulty)

Hard:

  • Enemies are much stronger.
  • They spawn more frequently.
  • Stronger types of monsters spawn during the night.
  • Events trigger more often.
  • Bosses may use special moves more often.
  • God's punishments are enabled.

Cursed:

  • Includes everything from Hard difficulty.
  • Enables one curse on top of that.

Cursed difficulty curse can be:

  • Against Time: +6% HP and +3% damage per ingame day passed.
  • Against All Odds: +6% HP and +3% damage per level gained.
  • Unwelcoming World: 150% HP and 50% damage from start without scaling. Healing is reduced by 50%. Gods negatively intervene more often.

This growth is linear, meaning that at day 20 it will be 120%/60% compared to base value. Third option is static and it doesn't grow.

You can pick just one out of those three.

New Game+:

  • Includes everything from Hard difficulty.
  • Enemies are a bit stronger than on Hard difficulty and they receive bonus attack speed.
  • Level/Time scaling is optional based on preference in game settings.
  • Adds some alterations to the main story.

You can change the difficulty at any time in the gameplay settings, except in New Game+, where it can't be lower than Hard+.

Ironman Mode

You can choose to play with Ironman enabled or disabled.

Ironman Enabled:

  • You have only one save file.
  • The game auto-saves whenever you fast travel, die, or exit the game.
  • Unlocks five exclusive Ironman-only Steam achievements.
  • You can opt out of Ironman at any time in the gameplay settings, but you cannot opt back in once disabled.
  • This is the recommended mode by the game.

Ironman Disabled:

  • Provides a more classic RPG experience.
  • Allows multiple save files.
  • You can quick-load to revert mistakes, such as after dying.
  • The game does not auto-save, so you will need to manually save by pressing F5 regularly.
